On May 5, 2023 we will experience the second event of the current eclipse season, a penumbral lunar eclipse in Scorpio.
Events involving Pluto ruled Scorpio always release transformative energy.
But no matter which sign is involved, eclipses bring Change.
In fact the origin of the word ‘eclipse’ is ‘to abandon, to leave a usual place, to encounter the unfamiliar’.
Eclipses always come in pairs (or occasionally threes) within a few weeks of each other. The time between these intimately connected celestial events acts as a sort of holding tank. Things get stirred up and alchemical forces do their work within the container that is created by this dance between Earth, Sun and Moon.
For those who identify with and are sensitive to subtle energies, to spiritus, the Latin word given to life force, this in-between time known as eclipse season might be felt in your bones, in your deepest intuitive awareness, though it may be difficult to define intellectually.
Some people just feel a bit odd for a fortnight. Many empaths who feel as much into the world around them as they do their own internal world, may feel an unmistakable sensation of pending change. For still others, this powerful event activates inner knowing, like when animals take shelter from weather events days before there’s any physical evidence of what’s coming.
A lot depends on how skilled you are at processing and working with the unknown. The cauldron is bubbling, we know that for sure. But we may lack the clarity to discern how things will turn out. And in a cerebral culture that prides itself in the illusion that we are in control, it can get a bit uncomfortable.
Eclipses are powerful teachers. Just when we were feeling confident that we’ve got things under control, they defy our efforts to maintain our comfort zone.
Think of them as primordial doorways, portals that open every six months or so, give you a little push into unknown territory and then close once their transformational powers have done their work.
They come to remind us of the constant opportunity to step out of the cubicle of culture-driven self absorption and instead be part of all of life.
If you’ve ever witnessed a full lunar or solar eclipse in person, you know how it stops your busy mind. You know you are in the presence of something super-natural. Like the way your cut just knows how to heal and trees just know how to grow. And how nature designs systems that function with unfathomable synergy when we are willing to respectfully observe.
The natural intelligence of eclipse season is as well planned and executed as any event in the miraculous physical dimension we find ourselves in. It’s as fundmental to life and as flawlessly orchestrated as the ocean tides.
If you’re among those who experience eclipse season vividly, it can be helpful to remember that it is divinely designed to carry you to the next stage of your evolutionary journey.. a protective measure that ensures the dynamic nature of life will keep us evolving even when we feel most inhibited or stuck.
Like all cycles, eclipse season is a gift, a wisdom source who encourages us to take the first step, to embrace change with Grace, because change cleanses us of stagnation and renews us again and again and again!
